It's nice find to a page on the Gipsy Kings. With everything on the Net these days, I'm surprised there isn't more out there. Anyway, thanks for your work on keeping this page up. You may already know this, but currently GK played two concerts at Wolf Trap here in Vienna, Virginia - just outside of Washington, DC. The concerts were filmed for a special by American public television, PBS. It is scheduled to air in the Fall of this year and since it is nationwide, it should open a lot of new ears to GK's wonderful music. Also, I have the Greatest Hits CD from 1994 but I don't have the case with me. If you'd like, I could e-mail the songs from the CD, if you don't already have them.
Keep up this page, please! You will always have at least one faithful reader. Finally, I know this sounds like a Herculean task, but perhaps you may give a shot at putting up lyrics to some of the songs.
Es un bueno trabajo, hasta.
Hi Doug !! I want everyone to know I am a big fan of the Gipsy Kings.
Your page is excellent and has provided a lot of useful information.
Tom@ilg.org refers to concerts in Virgina being filmed for a PBS special, I believe this may be the second time this is being done. I recall about a about a year ago seeing a TV Guide listing a GK concert.
If work doesn't interfere (yea right!! ) I will have some lyrics for your page by next week.
See ya
This is one of the greatist acoustic guitar bands that I have ever heard. For those of you who have never listened to this album..."GO OUT AND GET ONE"
This band has great singing and excellent guitar playing. The lead guitarist for this group is one of the greats. Even if you cant understand the words, it is excelent, relaxing music... and it's hard as hell to play!
I was very surprised and delighted to find info on the GK's here on the net. They are a talented group of musicians in the true sense. As a young girl my father would play their fathers group albums, "Manitas the Plata" or "Los Hermanos Reyes", and I would dance to the wonderful rythums. Anyone who has not had the pl easure of seeing this extremely wonderful group should! I have never gone to a concert where everyone (from the get go) is on there feet and feeling the music. Not only are they captivating but audiences who attend these concerts are of every nationality, which is interesting and fun. Thank you Doug for your contribution in spreading the word regarding the Gypsy Kings. Continue the good work!
Thank you so much for starting a page on the Gipsy Kings. I have to admit
that I simply can not go a day withough listening to them. I need to listen
to their music more than I need to eat or drink water. I have seen them in
Athens, Greece and also twice in Los Angeles, CA. They were spectacular.
Right now I am studying in Pamlona, Spain and up here in the north they really
donīt listen to any type of flamenco music. One day when I become extremely
rich and famous I will invite them to my mansion. I will give anything just
to meet them.
Keep up the good work, and if you would like you can send me an e-mail and we
can descuss more about Los REYES GITANOS.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. It is a noble thing that you do, this home page.
I think that I am the biggest (or most obsessed) Gipsy Kings fan in Canada. My cats are named Djobi and Djoba.
