Thank you for your great site. I was able to find out from others who have posted to you that GK will be here in Los angeles area this May. I was searching for this info on many different sites. It is nice to see that there are so many GK fans. I have all the available cd's and find them great. What great music! Thanks again for your site. If you know of a local fan club here in the LA area please contact me.

From Jonathan Woodbridge (jwoodbridge@highlands.com) Sun, 23 Mar 1997 23:18:29:

I was lent a tape of the GK's by a parent down the road. She played it in the evening when she and her child were getting tired and cranky and it really worked well for them. Now, we have four of the GKs albums and we play them every day. My son Mark (16 months old) demands them! You're doing great things here, with the lyrics and the translations. We've been making out the songs word by word for awhile, and some we can understand most of, but there are always those words that I assume are dialect or phrases that I can't make out. I saved all the translations to savor tomorrow.

Requests: Igual Se Entonces, Los Pesces en el rio, and Pajarito. They're on your page, but there's no link...

You're doing us all a great favour --thanks so much.

Jonathan Woodbridge

(I will answer to your requests on the section of "Requests for Translations" soon. -C.U.-)

Hello Chie! I'm going to try this again, I was interrupted when I tried to transmit earlier. This is a great site for the Gipsy Kings!!

I've found it very useful, I was able to locate some CDs I've been looking for. You're doing a fantastic job and I appreciate all your effort. I would love more bio info on the Reyes family, wives, children, who is Bernadette? I've seen her name on CDs with Jose Reyes and his sons. I WOULD LOVE INFO ON 1997 TOUR DATES!!!! I've seen the dates for Wash DC and NY but I'm in Minneapolis. They were last here in '95 and skipped us last summer. I'm praying that they come to Mpls this summer. I just tried Ticketmaster Online but they just had the above dates listed. I would appreciate any info ASAP. Thanks for the great Gipsy Kings site!! I can be reached at qkdraw@AOL.comm. I hope that they get to Japan too!! Adios y muchas gracias!!

Thank's for your reply! I'm from los Angeles, California. I'm a accounts receivable manager for a large messenger/attorney service, Express Network. We mainly service law firms doing thier filings, service of process etc. Not the most flamboyant job but it's a good living. In my spare time I do Mosaic art pieces using glass and ceramic tiles.

You are the first web site I E-mailed. I love the Gipsy Kings and haven't found anyone in Los Angeles who is as intoxicated with their music as I am. It's a pleasure reading your web site, thank-you. Are you a member of the GK fan club? If so was it hard to become a member? I would love it if the United States had a fan club or even Japan. Have the GK played in Japan? Have you seen them live? Sorry for so many questions but what can I say, I'm addicated. Please tell me about how you got started with your web site.

See you later,

I only recently discovered the Gipsy Kings after seeing a documentary on PBS. I instantly fell in love with their music and have been dying to see them in concert ever since. I live in the Atlanta area, but visit NY once or twice a year. Any info you could provide would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Toni

According to Bob Bish (bish@azstarnet.com) 1997/01/19:

Last August I retired from radio broadcasting after 27 years. I started in Progressive Rock FM in 1969. I worked at some of those early FM stations that played progressive rock AND progressive jazz. I was Music Director and/or Program Director of many different stations over the years. I once worked at a station that had 50,000 (vinyl) albums in the control room. I've heard a LOT of music. A hell of a lot.

I just recently discovered the Gipsy Kings.

This is the BEST DAMN MUSIC I'VE EVER HEARD!

(His comment was forwarded to me from Rennie, and
Bob consented to what I add this to my page. Thank you!)

OS QUIERO FELICITAR POR LA GRAN MUSICA QUE TOCAIS. YO SOY UN FAN DESDE QUE LES ESCUCHE POR PRIMERA VEZ. SIEMPRE QUE SALE UN CD NUEVO, HAGO LO POSIBLE PRO COMPRARLO. SOLAMENTE QUE NO TODOS LOS CDs LLEGAN A AMERICA. HE ESCUCHADO DE MIS AMIGOS QUE EN ESPAN~A HAY MAS CDS DE VUESTRA MUSICA. ME HA GUSTADO "TIERRA GITANA" ESPECIALMENTE "LA RUMBA DE NICOLAS" OS ADMIRO MUCHO.
JESUS LUZ DE LA CONCEPCION GONZALES

I want to congratulate you for the great music that you play. I have been a fan since I heard you for the first time. Whenever a new CD comes out, I do everything possible to buy it. It's only that not all the CDs arrive in America. I have heard from my friends in Spain that there are more CDs of your music. I liked "Tierra Gitana" especially "La Rumba de Nicolas". I admire you very much.

From Don Dungan (aimdon@wiredweb.com) Sat, Jan 11 21:22:04 1997:

To the COOL person who made possible the translations of the Gipsy Kings, I LOVE being able to understand the words of these great songs. Thank you very much. I would like to have a translation of Volare'. It is a beautiful song in any language. Last month I was in a store Christmas shoping and they were playing The Best of The Gipsy Kings and I asked who that was. I listened a little while, about two songs worth, and said I have to have that. I was an instant fan. Anyway before I start rambling and wasting your time I would really love to get a translation of Volare'.

Thank You So Much,
Don

(I'm sorry, but I have no lyrics of "Volare". If there is anyone who has them, please let me know. Thank you! -C.U.- )

Hi!! I just wanted to let you know that I LOVE your home page for the Gipsy Kings!! I am SUCH a fan of theirs. I heard about them completely by accident in an Intensive Spanish class I was taking back in 1992 at the University here. The professor played "Djobi, Djoba" for us, and I have been hooked since. The only problem is that their music is really hard to find here in Oklahoma. I was lucky enough to find "Este Mundo" and "The Best of Gipsy Kings". I LOVE both of them and can't wait to hear the other albums. I guess I will have to order them. Also, I love the fact that you made the lyrics available. I love to try to sing along and this will make it much more pleasant on everyone's ears!! Keep up the great work!!

From Bill Shurtleff (bill@ecommlink.com) Mon, Jan 06 19:20:04 1997:

Hi,

I think an interesting note to add to the history of the Gipsy Kings is their familial association with "Manitas de Plata," who is Ricardo Baliardo. As you may know the Baliardos of the Gipsy Kings are cousins to Ricardo Baliardo; and what's more the father of the Reyes brothers, Jose Reyes, sang as "cantaor" with "Manitas de Plata." Just thought this to be an interesting note.

Bye.

Hi, I am seeking information concerning Gipsy King concert dates. I just discovered the Gipsy Kings last summer while traveling in Central America, and only tonight did I find that they were on tour in the US just at the same time I was beginning to get into them!

Do you know of any tour dates yet to come either in the US or abroad? I would love to see them in concert if at all posible! I hope to here from you soon.

-Adrian

Hi there!
It's the first time that I email to Japan!!! Well, I got very short time before I leave. You can learn all unimportant stuff about me on (being constructed) my homepage:
http://www.student.kuleuven.ac.be/~m9624138
Important is that I love Gipsy Kings and your Bamboleo GK Homepage! However, I can't find any chords for guitar... are they there or where shall I look? I need Baila Me and No Volvere... also, I heard they would come to Belgium any time near - is it true? Thanks a lot!!! Have a merry Christmas (if you celebrate it!?).
See you... Tomas

Thank you for writing. I hope to hear from nice GK fans! - C.U. -
