Hi Chie,
.......... My wife and I went to a record store today because there was a CD she wanted to get. She asked, "Don't you want to look for any more Gipsy Kings CDs?" And I said, "I think I have all the Gipsy Kings CDs that I can get here in the US." But we went to the store and she found the "Chico and the Gipsies" CD called "Tengo Tengo". I had seen that CD listed on your Bamboleo webpage but I had never seen it in the stores. I had to give my wife credit for finding that CD. She was also the one who found out about Amparo Sandino singing "Baila Me" with the Gipsy Kings on her CD "Punto de Partida". My wife likes the Gipsy Kings but she is not as crazy about them as I am. She likes Caribbean Latin music a lot.
I like all kinds of music, classical, Beatles, Gordon Lightfoot, Moody Blues, Sinatra and a lot more. However, I never have found any music that could move me as much as the Gipsy Kings music. ........
Well Chie, I'll say goodbye for now. Talk to you soon - Rennie

I heard a fabulous group doing "My Way" on a soundtrack of a movie, probably the greatest sound I had ever heard. I could hardly wait for the credits to be shown-the group was the Gypsy kings. I bought the album the next day, and all new albums since. They are the greatest! For therapy, I put an album on, crank the stereo to full wattage, and let the sound take me away. They are definitely balm for the soul. Will make one of the US concerts next year if possible, Thanks for the homepage.

I love the Gipsy Kings! I've been a fan since the late 80's! I only wish I could have the chance to see them in concert. Will they ever tour near Houston? There are alot of Gipsy Kings fans in Houston. Also I would love to get ahold of a Gipsy Kings concert t-shirt or any other souvenir. Please if there's someone out there that can tell me where I can purchase a t-shirt or if the know of an official fan club, let me know!! And last but not least thank you for dedicating this page to the greatest group ever!

Hola Chieco,
Thanks for getting back to us so quickly!
After we wrote you we did some more surfing and found your site and a few others. We learned a lot about the Gipsy Kings. The lyrics we found were very different from site to site. Sometimes I don't think anyone knows what they are singing! Since the Kings are from France, speak Gitane, and sing in Spanish, it seems that what they sing is a mixture, a hybrid, a melange of any languages. But what is important is the music! Right?
We'd be happy to help with any English translations you are looking for. Just send the Spanish lyrics you have. This E-mail thing is fun!
We also Chat on GLOBAL CHAT from time to time. Look for us there, or let us know where you chat and how to get there!
Thanks again!

From Eugene Kriegsmann (Eugenek@worldnet.att.net) Sat, Nov 09 15:52:57 1996:
Dear Chie,
.... Thank you so much for your translation. It says what I thought. It is both sad and beautiful.
I spent a great deal of time with Spanish Gypsies in Florida many years ago. As a consequence I became known as Gitano. I have only recently become aware of the GK because of seeing the Tierra Gitana video. I immediately bought their first album and the Best Of the GK Album. I have listened to them almost every day since. Their music encompasses so much beauty and sadness and what the French call Joie de Vivre. I also find the gritty quality of the voices and the incredible guitar playing addictive.
Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Until we speak again, Via con Dios,
Gene

The Gipsy Kings is simply The Best. I don't have speech to talk about it.
Only Gipsy Kings plays and singers a legitimate Flamenco-Rumba.
The voice of Nicolas Reyes is fantastic, and the Guitar of Tonino Bailardo beautiful.

....I liked very much of new info about GK, your Home Page is only specialist with GK.

Hi
I really enjoy the gipsy king home page. A home page from fans is much nicer than from a record company. It has a certain warmth and enthusiasm that a company home page does not have. Keep up the good work.

I enjoyed your page on GK and have read everything I could about them on the web.
I recently boought the "Best of the GK" CD just to see how they were. I was completely floored by what great music they play and sing and have since bought each of their CDs released in the US. I am completely hooked on them.
While reading your FAQ, I saw a question asking if GK sang a Spanish version of the Doobie Brothers' song "Long Train Running". I believe the person asking the question was referring to the song "Bem Bem Maria" which starts out very similarly to that song.
Well thanks again.

Wow! I love all styles of music, but what an ear-opener! I too find myself playing the music over and over. I have a tape from OPB radio (Afro-pop worldwide) of a live show in France! It stays in the deck.

My name is Yamamoto Toshiyuki. I found your GK Homepage and decided to contact you. ....
When I first heard GK's "Inspiration" as the signature of the samurai drama "Onihei Hankacho" on Japanese TV, I liked it very much. So I would like to get one of their CDs, which includes "Inspiration". Then which album do you suggest me to get first, "Gipsy Kings" or "GK Best Remixes"? ....
Write me back please. (Translated by C.U.)

My name is Jason Engel. I work for a spanish company, and we listen to the Gipsy Kings non-stop. When I started working for BENIX & CO. two years ago, I knew nothing about the Gipsy Kings...and now I am in love with thier music.
I recently saw the GK at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto on August 14, 1996. FANTASTIC. This year I also saw kd lang, Alanis Morissette...and they are by far the best concert I've seen since Madonna's 'Girlie Show' Tour in 1993.
I don't know a lot about the GK's career...I'm a BIG fan of their music. I wish someone could interpret some of their lyrics in english....but I can sing along fine without problem.
Great site!
I'm bookmarking it!
Hope to hear from you soon...
Jason
From Sue Miller (miller@wsrl.cee.uwex.edu) Mon, Aug 26 11:50:36 1996:
I would like to let the Gipsy Kings and the Rosemont Theater know how disappointed I was in the concert at the Rosemont Theater on August 17th. The sound was so bad, we left before the second half was over. I don't know if the system was bad or if the mix was bad, all I know is the bass was so overwhelming we could not tell what songs they were playing. The only time I found the concert even tolerable was when I had my fingers in my ears so I could sort of make out what song they were playing. We were in the center of the theater in the fourth row of the mezzanine and we paid a good price for those tickets-we expected a great concert. We saw the Gipsy Kings in Indiana last year at the Star Theater and the concert was fabulous. We live in Madison, Wisconsin, and we drove all that way to see them. We were looking forward to their next concert and would gladly have driven to Indiana again to see them in a nice theater with a good sound system. There were four in our party and I know we won't be going back to the Rosemont Theater, I guess we'll have to wait to see where the Gipsy Kings are playing next before we decide whether we will spend the money again.

I just want to blab that I saw on TV that the Gipsy Kings will be guests on the Rosie O'Donnell Show sometime during the week of July 22,1996! As a big fan of the GKs, I'm glad to see em on TV, as they aren't coming anywhere near my home on their '96 tour of the states. I love the music, its sexy and exciting. I fancy myself a flamenco dancer and incorporate their music in my aerobics routines. Is anyone familiar with WILLIE and LOBO, a duet who've been influenced by the Gipsy Kings? GOOD MUSIC.
