Hi John
Obviously I've got a lot of typing to do!
I don't know how much spanish you understand, but it seems to me that on these songs where he's much older, he confuses words and grammar, as would happen when your parents are probably dead and you live in another country!
I'll do them one at a time:
El cura de San Francisco (the priest from S.F.)
que viene con la soltana (who comes with his 'banner')
que quiere que yo le compre (who wants me to buy him)
ay una chupeta #3 (a 'shot' of alcohol)
di, pasare los dias ( I said I would pass the days)
siempre tu me dabas (those you always gave me)
sin querer me moriria (without love I would die)
sin pensando que amores contando (without thinking that lovers talk)!?!
El cura etc
digame que 'te quiero' (tell me you love me)
por eso te perdio (for this I lost you)
para vivir yo no puedo (even to live I can't do it)
como veras el clara dia (as clear as the day)
El cura etc
...........................
Moritas moras:
La clara del dia que me comprenda (In the clearness of day I understand)
lo veras lo que te digo gitana mia (you will see what I tell you my gypsy girl)
siempre tu te vas de la vera mia (always you go from my sight)
ya veras lo que tu sientes gitana mia de mi alma
(you will see what you feel gypsy girl of my soul)
lo mismo que me das (the same that you give me)
no has tenido conciencia y amores (you haven't had experience and lovers)
los besos que a mi me dabas (the kisses you gave me)
yo lo reconocio (I remember them)
y no vengo me enganarme (I don't stand to gain anything)
tu eras la gitana pura (You were the pure gypsy)
gitana de mucho querer (A well-loved gypsy)
querer mas fina ay,,, (love so fine)
tu madre a mi no me quiere (your mother loves me no more)
creces mas pura por sentio (you grow more fine and I felt it)
tener lo que tu me has prometido (having what was promised to me)
ahora te vas contemplar la noche (now you go into the night)
con un otro que quieres gitana (with another whom you love)
ay que penas ya me dabas ( Oh the pain you give me)
tu estabas la reina, la reina de mi corazon (you were the queen of my heart)
y ahora no me quieres mas (but now you love me no more)
gitana pura de verdad (truly you don't gypsy girl)
yo llorando por ti de noche y de dia gitana (and I crying night & day for you girl)
Tu me abandones (you abandon me)
que de sufrimiento yo te digo (And despite the suffering I tell you)
la pena me va quitando (the pain goes from me)
ay llorando de noche y dia (from crying night & day)
mar de amargura (sea of bitterness)
ay por dios, madre (for god's sake)
que me perdio, por mi querer (that I lost for my loving)
mi madre, de solo tanto perdio (mother, I lost so much)
no llorare ya mas ya gitana (I will cry no more gypsy girl)
la pena que me esta llamando (the pain is calling me)
llamando des amores (calling from loves)
amores llamar de callarte (loves calling to silence you)
Or something....
He speaks better on the CD I told you about and there are probably some mistakes here, but it's the interpretation that I prefer.
Enjoy

Thank you a lot for the Lyrics of Marina. Can you send me another lyrics from Chico & the Gypsies album Nomade?
In oder of importance: Ultimo Baile, La Bamba or anything that is not available on your great web site. By the way, is there a way I can help you?
Thank you once more. Dave

Buenas dias! me recuerdas? My name is Jim/jaime and at the moment I live in England. I am a big fan of your page, and I wanted to send you:-
Here are the words to 'Recuerda' from 'Alegria' which I notice are missing from your list. I hope these will be useful. Accents are missing because this computer does not have spanish characters.
'Recuerda'
solo aquella cama
ENGLISH-
remember, remember the night that you came to me
remember the night that you came to me
and I was in awe of you
Remember the night you came to me
Remember the night we spent together
your bronzed body
eased all my pains
ay! only that bed
ay! love me, love me because I need you
I made her sin and she sinned
a woman who was saintly and righteous
she died (as a result) of her pains/wrongs
and I am full of remorse
I made her sin and she sinned
the good gypsy girl
she died of her pains/wrongs
and I am full of remorse
but I did it, I did it because...........
(translated by Jaime y Marta Soler-Gaiton)
P.S. I live with a gypsy girl from Granada who has taught me Spanish over the years, and I am familiar with Catalan, which the Gypsy Kings often use. I can help with translations but Canut is a nightmare as he often uses words from their own gitane dialect, which I don't understand. Anyway please mail me back if you would like to contact me about anything, and good luck with your excellent page!
Best wishes
